My son Landon stepped into the wonderful Head Start world at the Vernon Parish program in 1977. As the youngest of three, those early days at a Head Start program made him feel like a 'big kid' and transformed the way we supported his growth at home. It was amazing to see how being part of this program transformed him into a big kid, boosting his confidence and learning skills. By the time he transitioned to kindergarten, he was ahead of the curve, an advanced learner. Thanks to Head Start services, it gave him the perfect start!

But my Head Start journey didn't end there. In 2007, I applied to the Head Start workforce as a financial management analyst. Little did I know, this decision would lead to an incredible 16-year adventure that I cherish every day.

As time passed, my role evolved and I found myself captivated by the world of acquisitions and contracts, especially after being entrusted with a crucial contract at the Office of Head Start central office. I can honestly say I've never been bored with the work I do. The enthusiasm I've carried over these 16 years has propelled me to become a program specialist in acquisitions.

The Head Start program isn't just any early childhood program; it's a life-changer. It's empowered my son and propelled me into a fulfilling career, giving me the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of children and families every day. I'm incredibly proud to be a part of this incredible journey, and I can't wait to see what more the future holds.

If you're a parent considering a Head Start or other meaningful career, I wholeheartedly recommend exploring the endless Head Start possibilities.
