Measuring What Matters Learning Series

Using data to track family and program progress is essential to strengthening parent, family, and community engagement (PFCE). This nine-module interactive learning series to learn more about using data to enhance your work with children and families. The course is accessible on the Individualized Professional Development (iPD) Portfolio, and continuing education units are awarded for completion.

The Measuring What Matters Learning Series includes the nine modules listed below:

  1. Introduction to Measuring What Matters — Learn ways to use data to support progress toward PFCE family outcomes and the provision of quality services.
  2. Introduction to the Four Data Activities and the Four Rs — Discover guiding principles for using data and explore the four data activities for tracking family and program progress in a cycle of continuous learning and quality improvement.
  3. Prepare — Review the careful preparation process to show the reach and impact of your work with children and families.
  4. Prepare Evaluation Questions —Learn the process for asking the right questions, considering the data you already have, and thinking about the data you want to collect. Collect — Explore how to prepare for data collection. Choose methods to help you gather data to track progress in line with your program's goals, objectives, and expected outcomes.
  5. Aggregate — Discover ways to aggregate and disaggregate data to get a whole picture of your program and families' progress.
  6. Analyze — Learn ways to analyze the PFCE data your program has collected over time.
  7. Use and Share — Discover how to use your program's PFCE data to tell a story.
  8. CQI and Confidentiality — Learn about using data for continuous quality improvement (QCI) and maintaining confidentiality.

This iPD learning series aligns with the PFCE Framework, Measuring What Matters: Using Data to Support Family Progress, and Head Start Program Performance Standards.
